This working tower mill is the only one in the county with left-handed sails. It was built by Sam Oxley of Alford in c1813 and contains much of its original equipment. There is also a gallery, which outlines the history of milling, tearoom and a gift shop. Free parking.

Fully restored and working watermill producing organic stone-ground flour sold in the mill shop. On the bank of the River Slea, approximately half a mile from the town centre, the mill has a long and fascinating history. Probably originating as an Anglo Saxon estate mill, parts of the building go back to the 17th century.

A wonderful working windmill on the edge of the Fens in Norfolk. Built in 1835 the mill used wind power until 1941. Now fully restored with new facilities for visitors.

The restored working 5 storey tower mill built in 1807 was once owned and operated by the father of George Green, a mathematical physicist. Recently refurbished ‘hands-on’ science exhibits also illustrate some of George Green’s scientific achievements. Built in 1797, this is the only working stone-towered six-sailed windmill in England. Much of the old wooden mechanism is in place, which drives one of the two pairs of millstones. There is an interpretation centre and, in the former granary, a shop selling wholemeal flour, souvenirs and light refreshments.

A fine working tower mill built in 1813 by a syndicate of local farmers and now owned by North Leverton Windmill Trust. There is also a display of old farm implements and other bygones in the warehouse next to the mill.

Dusty Miller Passports

A passport can be obtained at some of the above mills. When visiting mills this can be stamped and when completed a badge is available at some of the mills. This scheme was set up many years ago in conjunction with Lincs Museums but they are no longer involved. Not all the mills taking part in the scheme have badges left so if you need one please contact our events co-ordinator whose details  are on the contacts page.
